Rovman Powell may have scored just 28 runs off 22 balls in the match, but it was enough to push him past Chris Gayle’s record of 1,899 T20I runs. With that knock, Powell now stands at 1,925 runs in 99 T20Is at an average of 25.66 and a strike rate over 141. He has already scored one century and nine half-centuries, with his highest score being 107.
Chris Gayle, a T20 legend known for his power-hitting, had held the second spot for years with 1,899 runs from 79 matches, including 2 centuries and 14 fifties.
Currently topping the West Indies' T20I run chart is Nicholas Pooran, who has scored 2,275 runs in 106 matches, making him the highest run-getter for the team.
