The counting of votes for the Uttarakhand municipal elections is underway. Voting had taken place on January 23, 2025, for 100 municipal bodies, including key positions like municipal heads, councilors, and ward members. Naugaon Municipal Body:
- Municipal Head Winner: Vijay Kumar (BJP) - 1,050 votes
- Vipin Kumar (Congress) - 827 votes
- Yashwant Kumar (Independent) - 816 votes
Rishikesh Municipal Body:
BJP and Independent candidates won 3 councilor seats each, while Congress won none.
Doiwala Municipality Ward 6:
BJP candidate Priyanka Manwal has won.
Dehradun:
A scuffle broke out between BJP and Congress agents in the counting section for Wards 46 to 60. Police intervened and removed both agents from the counting center following the Returning Officer’s instructions.
Srinagar Garhwal Mayoral Race (First Round):
Independent Candidate: Aarti Bhandari leading with 2,117 votes
BJP’s Asha Upadhyay: 1,466 votes
Congress’ Meena Rawat: 353 votes
Municipality Gaja:
- Chairperson Winner: Kunwar Singh Chauhan (Independent)
Defeated BJP’s Rajendra Singh Khati
Municipality Herbertpur:
Chairperson Winner: Niru Devi (BJP)
Municipality Kirtinagar:
Chairperson Winner: Dr. Rakesh Mohan Maithani (BJP)
Barkot Municipality (First Phase Counting):
BJP secured 839 votes across wards 1–4, while Independent candidates garnered 1,059 votes.
Satpuli Municipality:
Congress won 5 councilor seats; BJP won none.
Tapoan Municipality:
Chairperson Winner: Vinita Bisht (BJP) - 1,081 votes
Roshni Bisht (Independent): 815 votes
BJP also won 3 out of 4 councilor seats; one seat went to an Independent candidate.
Ukhimath Municipality:
Chairperson Winner: Kubja Dharmwan (Independent)
BJP and Congress finished third and last, respectively.
Roorkee Counting Center Incident:
Two youths were arrested for drinking alcohol behind the tents at the counting center. Police seized liquor bottles and are investigating further.
Doiwala Municipality (First Round):
BJP leads with a 468-vote margin after counting from 5 wards.
Haridwar Mayoral Election:
BJP candidate Kiran Jaisal is leading by 3,000 votes.
