A shocking incident unfolded in Canada as unknown assailants opened fire outside the residence of popular Punjabi singer Prem Dhillon. The attack, which took place on Monday, was reportedly claimed by the Jaipal Bhullar gang. This incident has raised serious concerns about the growing influence of organized crime within the Punjabi music industry and the safety of artists living abroad.

Prem Dhillon, known for hit songs like "Boot Cut," "Old Skool," and "Majha Block," has gained immense popularity in the Punjabi music industry. However, the recent attack on his home has sparked fears among fans and the Punjabi community in Canada. In a viral social media post, the Jaipal Bhullar gang took responsibility for the shooting and mentioned the late singer Sidhu Moosewala, who was tragically shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district in 2022. The post also referenced jailed gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, further fueling speculations about connections between organized crime and the music industry.

This is not the first time that a Punjabi artist has been targeted in Canada. In September last year, shots were fired outside singer AP Dhillon’s house on Victoria Island in Vancouver. A man named Rohit Godara, linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for that attack. The incident sent shockwaves through the Punjabi community, highlighting the ongoing violence and threats faced by artists overseas.

In another alarming incident, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi had allegedly claimed responsibility for an attack on singer Gippy Grewal’s house in November 2023. The shooting reportedly took place in the White Rock neighborhood of Vancouver. Although there were no reports of casualties, such attacks have raised serious questions about the growing threats faced by Punjabi musicians and the increasing influence of criminal syndicates operating across borders.

The mention of Sidhu Moosewala’s name in the viral post by the Jaipal Bhullar gang has further intensified concerns. Moosewala, one of the biggest Punjabi music stars, was gunned down in broad daylight in Punjab in May 2022. His murder was linked to gang rivalries, with both the Lawrence Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gangs coming into focus during the investigation. The recent attack on Prem Dhillon’s residence suggests that such rivalries are still active, with gangsters attempting to exert their dominance over the Punjabi music industry.

The situation has left many Punjabi artists feeling vulnerable, with concerns about safety growing among those residing in Canada. The Canadian authorities are expected to investigate the attack and take necessary actions to prevent further violence. However, the recurring nature of such incidents raises questions about whether enough is being done to ensure the safety of artists facing threats from organized crime groups.

Punjabi music has seen a meteoric rise in popularity, with artists gaining international recognition. However, the growing association of the industry with gang-related activities is casting a shadow over its success. The attack on Prem Dhillon’s residence serves as a grim reminder of the dangers that some artists face, even while living in countries like Canada.

As investigations continue, fans and well-wishers are hoping for strict action against those responsible and better security measures for artists who have become unwilling targets of violent gang rivalries.
