Royal Enfield has officially launched its much-awaited Scram 440 motorcycle in India, priced at an attractive starting price of Rs. 2.08 lakh (ex-showroom). This latest offering is just Rs. 1,300 pricier than its predecessor, the Scram 411, and promises a host of upgrades for enthusiasts.

Variants and Pricing

The Scram 440 is available in two variants:

  • Trail Variant: Rs. 2.08 lakh
  • Force Variant: Rs. 2.15 lakh

The Trail variant features conventional 19/17-inch spoke wheels with tube-type tyres, while the premium Force variant gets alloy wheels with tubeless tyres.

Engine and Performance

The Scram 440 comes powered by a brand-new 443cc, air/oil-cooled engine, delivering:

  • 25.4 bhp at 6,250rpm
  • 34Nm of torque at 4,000rpm

The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox, offering smoother cruising on long rides. The increased displacement and additional gear make this bike a highly capable touring companion.

Design and Features

The Scram 440 retains the iconic styling of the Scram 411, with a:

  • Round LED headlight with a small cowl
  • Large fuel tank
  • Slim and sleek tail section

However, Royal Enfield has introduced new vibrant colour options, including Force Teal, Force Grey, Force Blue, Trail Green, and Trail Blue, to give the bike a modern touch.

In terms of features, the Scram 440 is equipped with:

LED headlight

  • Switchable dual-channel ABS for safety
  • Improved front brake for better stopping power

Suspension and Braking

The motorcycle is designed to handle diverse terrains with:

  • Telescopic forks up front
  • Monoshock suspension at the rear

A single disc brake at both ends

These features make the bike suitable for both city commutes and off-road adventures.

Competition

The Scram 440 will go head-to-head with the Triumph Scrambler 400X and Yezdi Scrambler in the Indian market. While Triumph offers a premium experience, Royal Enfield’s competitive pricing and loyal fanbase give it an edge.

Conclusion

The Royal Enfield Scram 440 blends retro aesthetics with modern functionality, making it an exciting addition to the scrambler segment. Whether you’re an off-road enthusiast or someone who enjoys leisurely long rides, the Scram 440 offers something for everyone.
