On National Unity Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful address at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, highlighting India’s journey toward unity and prosperity. This occasion, marking Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's role in unifying India, saw the Prime Minister emphasize the importance of collective responsibility to uphold national unity in the face of divisive forces.

Speaking on the rise of India’s global influence, PM Modi pointed out that despite external pressures, India's dedication to unity has strengthened its global reputation. Stressing on unity, he cautioned against internal factions he referred to as an "alliance of urban Naxals" – groups he claims are trying to destabilize India’s social fabric by promoting disunity and encouraging conflicts based on caste and other divisive factors. These groups, according to the Prime Minister, aim to weaken India’s image to global investors and disrupt its socio-economic progress.

In his speech, PM Modi outlined policies such as the Goods and Services Tax (GST) for “one nation, one tax,” and Ayushman Bharat for “one nation, one health insurance,” as examples of the government's commitment to building a unified, efficient system. He also touched on recent constitutional reforms, such as the revocation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, which he described as a pledge to “one nation, one Constitution,” enabling the citizens there to participate in the Indian political framework without barriers.

The Prime Minister also discussed future initiatives like “one nation, one election” and “one nation, one civil code,” framing these as necessary steps to streamline governance and reduce inefficiencies across the country. Through this vision, the government hopes to eliminate redundancies in electoral and legal systems, ultimately strengthening democracy and resource allocation.

Reflecting on Sardar Patel's legacy, PM Modi remarked that maintaining unity is key to India's social harmony, economic growth, and global prominence. He called on every citizen to champion unity as a tribute to the vision of Patel, underscoring that only a united India can truly aspire to become a global leader and developed nation.

As India celebrates Patel's 150th birth anniversary over the next two years, PM Modi urged all to reflect on the values of unity and collective progress, emphasizing that unity is not just essential for social harmony but is also the bedrock of India’s advancement on the global stage.
