The brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has triggered massive protests across the world. Indian community members in the United States, England, France, Germany, Canada, Denmark, Finland, and Spain organized demonstrations on Sunday, calling for justice for the 26 innocent victims who lost their lives during the attack last Tuesday. The protests reflected widespread anger and solidarity among the Indian diaspora and their supporters, who demanded accountability for the atrocity linked to Pakistan-based terror groups.

Protesters were seen carrying Indian flags, chanting anti-Pakistan slogans, and holding placards expressing their grief and outrage. Messages like "India, we stand with you" resonated across major cities as demonstrators stood united in their demand for justice. In Paris, a protester voiced the sentiments of many when he said, "Pakistan has executed many attacks previously as well, we have seen Pulwama, 26/11 (Mumbai) and now the Pahalgam terror attack. We don't represent a religion or a political party. We just want to send out a message to Pakistan."

The role of the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, operating out of Pakistan, in orchestrating the Pahalgam attack has only escalated tensions between India and Pakistan. The attack has been described as one of the deadliest assaults on civilians in the region in recent years. Protesters in London emphasized their solidarity with the families of the victims, expressing hope that the Indian government would deliver a strong and fitting response.

In Washington, the protests took a deeply personal turn as a woman, identifying herself as a survivor of the Kashmiri Pandit exodus from the 1990s, spoke about the trauma that recent events had resurfaced. She said, "We were singled out for the faith that we followed. My grandfather was targeted and shot. April 22 brought back a lot of nightmares. We Kashmiri Hindus are facing the same and reliving the horrific incidents that happened over the decades with us."

Reports from Pahalgam revealed horrifying details of the attack, where family members of victims claimed that terrorists specifically targeted people based on their religion. Those who identified themselves as Hindus were executed on the spot, leading to widespread condemnation and further fueling the anger of the global Indian community.

In response to the attack, India has implemented a series of strong measures against Pakistan. The Indian government expelled Pakistani military attaches, suspended the critical Indus Waters Treaty, and shut down the Attari land-transit post, a significant move in bilateral relations. Additionally, India revoked all visas issued to Pakistani nationals, effective from April 27, and advised Indian nationals residing in Pakistan to return home immediately.

Pakistan has retaliated by suspending all bilateral agreements with India, including the historic Simla Agreement. Diplomatic relations between the two countries have plunged to new lows as tensions continue to escalate.

In an effort to bring the perpetrators to justice, Indian authorities have released sketches of three terrorists suspected of involvement in the Pahalgam attack. The suspects have been identified as Hashim Musa alias Suleman and Ali Bhai alias Talha Bhai, both from Pakistan, and Adil Hussain Thoker, a native of Anantnag district in Kashmir. A reward of Rs 20 lakh has been announced for credible information leading to their arrest, highlighting the urgency and seriousness with which the Indian government is pursuing justice.

These protests across continents have not only demonstrated global outrage but also shown the strength and unity of the Indian diaspora. The message is clear: the world is watching, and the demand for justice is loud and unwavering.

The protests also come amid growing international scrutiny of Pakistan’s role in harboring terror groups. Many demonstrators urged global powers to hold Pakistan accountable for its long-standing complicity in cross-border terrorism. In a globalized world where acts of terror have repercussions beyond borders, the call for justice at Pahalgam has become a collective demand for peace and accountability.

As the situation continues to unfold, both India and Pakistan find themselves at a crossroads. While India pushes forward with decisive actions and international outreach, Pakistan’s diplomatic isolation appears to be deepening. The coming days will be critical in determining how the international community responds to this latest act of terror and whether concrete actions will be taken to prevent such tragedies in the future.

For now, the voices raised across the streets of Washington, London, Paris, Berlin, Toronto, Copenhagen, Helsinki, and Madrid echo a unified call: Justice for Pahalgam. Justice for the victims. Justice against terror.
